A private sanctuary for rescued and otherwise unwanted farmed animals, A. Bird Farm sits on a small family farm in Pierce County, Washington—just about an hour’s drive from Seattle. Inspired by an undercover animal rights activist’s photographs of a battery hen who had fallen into a manure pile below rows and rows crammed with tiny steel cages, our founders decided to find a place where non-human
friends could live out their lives in a place of compassion and care. The current resident population consists of chickens, pea and guinea fowl, a rooster, and a turkey. Situated on the former site of the Old Goat Farm, display gardens and a small specialty nursery create a sustainable, peaceful environment (open by appointment and to the public at various dates and times). Please check our hours before visiting.
